Machinery Industrial Instrument Material Product Quality Supervision and Testing Center, the Ministry of Machine Industry original approved the formation in 1985, is listed sector of Nation Instrument Material Industry Association, Nation Instrument Material Productivity Promotion Center, Nation Instrument Material Standard Technology Committee. In 1990, the center was certificated national measurement accreditation and national accreditation body, in 1996 passed the state-level review of an endorsement, authorization to detect including temperature materials, resistor materials, permanent magnetic materials, soft-magnetic materials, elastic materials, sealing materials and expansive alloys, special structure materials and electric vacuum materials eight categories, 84 kinds of instrument material, and  detection tasks of higher level and industry, such as temperature materials, compensation wire, aluminum, nickel-cobalt permanent magnet alloy products quality assessment and testing, played a positive role in promoting for instrument functional material quality improvement. 

In 2000 Chongqing Justice Bureau granted the first batch of expert testimony license (certificate number: 5001015). In 2001, "Chongqing Instrument Materials Testing Inspection Institute" became an independent legal person status of the technical services and advisory body, is the affiliated unit of "Machinery Industrial Instrument Material Product Quality Supervision and Testing Center", "Instrument Functional Materials Productivity Promotion Center "and "Instrument Functional Materials Standard Technology Committee ".

In 2001 through the laboratory accreditation of Nation Measurement Accreditation and China Nation Laboratory Accreditation Board, in 2006 passed the replacement review. To carry out testing for temperature materials and components, resistance materials, magnetic materials, metals and products, iron and steel, nonferrous metal and alloy the physical and mechanical properties, chemical analysis as well as temperature, length, mass, chemical equipment, mechanics etc. calibration work. Issued test reports and calibration certificates available to the international community in Europe, South Africa, the Americas and Asia-Pacific region a total of 35 laboratory accreditation bodies recognized.

In addition, according to the need for standardization and measurement tests, to carry out the corresponding test methods research and measuring devices development, the center has not only developed and produced thermal measurement, first-class and second-class standard thermocouple, first-class and second-class standard platinum resistance thermometer, armored standard platinum resistance thermometer, winning third prize of the national scientific and technological progress, in which the standard thermometer is currently the preferred measuring instruments of measurement testing departments, but also successfully developed automated thermocouple calibration system, meter damping magnet test system, thermocouple test furnace, thermocouple annealing furnace and detection of specific products.

The Center is located in the main building of Chongqing Instrument Materials Research Institute. There are 16 test staff and 4 administrative personnel, of which 6 testimony experts with technical training and assessment, and in which 6 middle-level and 6 senior professional staff. Has a variety of test equipment 156 pieces (sets), including electron microprobe, photoelectric direct reading spectrometer ICP plasma spectrometer, electronic tensile testing machine and other large precision instruments.
